![]() Investigators turned up a hatchet, duct tape, zip ties, and a bloody knife. Those suspicions were supported following a thorough search of the accident scene. They thought that the incident involved foul play and possibly homicide. Investigators suspected that their investigation was about more than a car wreck. Bridges recalled losing control of the steering wheel and not hitting the vehicle’s brakes - but Myers was “sure he wasn’t telling us the truth,” he told producers. Tim Myers, a retired special agent for the North Dakota BCI, spoke with Bridges after the crash. The injuries were suspicious enough for the North Dakota Highway Patrol to call in the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) to the scene. Marks around the victim’s wrists gave the appearance that he had been bound.Ĭlay’s injuries were “pretty graphic,” Lloyd Suhr, former prosecutor for the North Dakota State’s Attorney’s Office, confirmed to producers. However, responding officers saw that wounds to Clay’s neck and chest didn’t match the severity of the crash. John Bridges, the driver of the van Clay was in, walked away with minor injuries and was checked out at a local hospital. On July 6, Clay was found dead following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 in Bismarck. But t wo months later, Clay, 40, was deceased, leaving an ache, Pickens said, that is “never going to heal.” ![]() “He loved us, he loved life,” Pickens told “Injustice with Nancy Grace,” airing Thursdays at 9/8c on Oxygen. And she beats the crap out of Emma.In May 2012, Lee Clay headed to North Dakota for work to support his partner, Rachel Pickens, and their daughter, Karissa, who stayed at home in Georgia. But Tara isn’t having it, and says she’s not afraid of Wendy’s “custody threat.”Ģ. Wendy visits Tara to talk about visitation with Abel. STORY: ‘Sons of Anarchy’s’ Kim Coates on Season 5’s Shocking, Emotional Premiere Episodeġ. He lost his entire family – and now his own life – because of the actions of the club, but his last act was a completely selfless one to protect his best friend. It’s a tragic end for a character that led an extremely tragic life from the very first season. Then, last season, Opie’s father Piney is killed by Clay, who fears that Piney will reveal that Clay killed Jax’s father. However, he went back to the club, and after a federal agent tricked Clay into thinking that Opie had turned on them, Tig accidentally kills Donna while trying to kill Opie. Jax’s best friend, Opie wanted to leave the club after getting out of jail in the first season, pressured by his wife Donna. Opie’s story has been tragic from the beginning of the show. Jax is forced to watch on as a group of prisoners is allowed to beat Opie – who tries to fight them off as long as he can –until he dies with a final blow to the back of the head. Opie is then dragged into the box by the guards. Jax is about to punch the guard - which would mean he’s the one to die - when Opie gets in the way and hits him first. Jax, Opie, Tig and Chibs are called into “the box” by the gaurds and told it’s time to choose who will be beaten to death. PHOTOS: Emmys 2012: Kurt Sutter and Wife Katey Sagal on the Set of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ He also tells Opie that he hasn’t killed Clay because of the Feds’ secret case against them. He goes one step further and tells Opie about Clay’s ( Ron Perlman) real reason for killing Piney – the letters from Jax’s father that reveal that Clay killed Jax’s dad. Jax tells Opie all of this while they’re alone in their cell. Jax can pick which of the four will die in prison. He also wants Tig in jail forever, and he needs one member of SAMCRO to die because of the deaths on the highway. Inside, Damon Pope ( Harold Perrineau) meets with Jax, and says he wants 50 percent of SAMCRO’s profits from running drugs. The character who is killed off – in a violent and emotional scene – is Opie ( Ryan Hurst).Īt the end of the second episode, Opie heads to jail with Jax ( Charlie Hunnam), Tig ( Kim Coates) and Chibs ( Tommy Flanagan). So for creator Kurt Sutter to kill off a major character this early into the season is a big move.
